Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the OakWiki platform (the “Service”), operated by OakWiki Oy, a Finnish limited liability company registered under Y-tunnus 3318-872-1 (“OakWiki”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you (“Customer”) agree to these Terms.
01 Acceptance
You accept these Terms by creating an account, creating a page, or otherwise using the Service. If you accept on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to do so.
02 The Service
OakWiki provides a browser-based real-time document workspace. The available features, page limits, integrations, and storage are published at /pricing and in the documentation. We may add, remove, or change features. Material changes affecting paid plans will be communicated at least 30 days in advance to the account billing email.
03 Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Notify us at security@oakwiki.com if you suspect unauthorised access. We log all administrative actions on your workspace and surface those logs to you (Org plan by default; on request for Team).
04 Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- send unsolicited bulk communication or use OakWiki comments / mentions as an outbound messaging tool;
- host content that is unlawful in Finland or the European Union, including content explicitly prohibited under the Finnish Penal Code (Rikoslaki) or the EU Digital Services Act;
- scan, probe, or test the vulnerability of any system you do not own or have explicit permission to test;
- circumvent collaborator limits or attempt to obtain Service resources beyond your plan;
- resell or re-host the Service as a competing product.
05 Fees & billing
Paid plans are billed monthly in arrears for usage above the included allowances, or annually in advance for Org plans. Prices are listed at /pricing and are exclusive of VAT for EU customers. Invoices are issued through Stripe and payable on receipt.
06 Your content
You retain all rights to the content you upload to OakWiki (pages, attachments, comments). We do not use Customer content to train any model, derive any aggregate product, or otherwise benefit beyond operating the Service for you.
You grant us the minimum licence necessary to operate the Service: to host, replicate, and display your content to the recipients you direct (workspace members, guests, public-share recipients); and to retain backups for the durations described in our Privacy Policy.
You can export your content at any time in Markdown, HTML, or JSON formats. We will not hold your content hostage.
07 Availability
We target 99.9% monthly availability on Team plans and 99.95% on Org plans. Org plans receive service credits per the terms in the Order Form when availability falls below the target in a given month. Maintenance windows are announced in advance and excluded from availability calculations.
08 Termination
You may cancel at any time from workspace settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Pages remain accessible in read-only mode for 60 days after cancellation; they’re exported and deleted thereafter. We may terminate for non-payment, material breach of these Terms, or a legal requirement; we will attempt to give 14 days’ written notice where lawful.
09 Warranty disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is”. Except as expressly stated in these Terms or any Order Form, we make no warranties — express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Your statutory consumer rights under EU and Finnish law are not affected by this section.
10 Limitation of liability
Neither party will be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total aggregate liability arising from or related to these Terms is limited to the amounts paid by you to us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Finnish or EU law.
11 Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland (Suomen laki). Disputes will be heard by the Helsinki District Court (Helsingin käräjäoikeus) unless mandatory consumer-protection rules in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
12 Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 30 days before they take effect, and will be posted at this URL with a revised “last updated” date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
